-Many years ago Mrs Jenkins, a sprout farmers wife from East Anglia had a dish full of sprouts left over from a particularly good Christmas Dinner. Coming from frugal stock who did not believe in wasting food, she tried to make a soup to use the sprouts up. The results were excellent and her sprout soup became well known in the district. With the advent of the railways, travellers from London started buying the soup and taking it back home.
